Wednesday, October 29th, 2008Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Tuesday, July 29th, 2008I didn’t know how to spell Hallelujah so I Googled it. Because Google knows everything and I needed to look smart while leaving a comment on my friend Brad Matthew’s blog. The video for Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah” was one of the first examples that came up.
This is such a beautiful and haunting cover of a song originally penned and recorded by Leonard Cohen. Depending on the day it either breaks my heart or inspires me. Usually both.
Despite Hallelujah being one of my favorite songs I had never seen the video. So now, ME, Master Speller of the Universe, is sharing it with you, my sure to be humbled (by my amazing spelling) reader. I am also the Master Of The Comma, as I’m sure you noticed, and most likely the Universe… although this has yet to be confirmed, as my death will be required in determining the validity of the claim.
As a side note, I just got done driving 16.5 hours. I drank 3 cups of coffee. 2 iced double shots. 3 Red Bulls. 2 iced-canned-strong-as-hell-cotton-candy-tasting Starbucks Mocha drinks with added taurine and caffine for SUPER ENERGY POWER!!! And 1 Bud Light… on arrival of course. I’m feeling shaky and a little confused. I’m tired yet coursing with uneven impossible to control energy. I passed out 5 times while writing this only to wake up without with ever opening my eyes… unsure if I ever closed them. The only thing that could get me back to the computer was jumping-jacks and a quick lap or two around the block. The Road does strangestrangestrange things to you.
Goodness… after that rant I feel like I should just show you some videos of a guy getting hit in the balls with a whiffle bat. But I won’t. Instead I will get to the point.
Enjoy the video — And if you haven’t yet, you should consider givin’ a listen to the late Mr. Buckley’s un-friggin-believably good debut album GRACE.
As it turns out they (being the jerks) no longer allow this video to be embedded. So click on the link below if you would still like to check it out.
Coconut Records — West Coast
Monday, July 28th, 2008For a second there i thought you disappeared
It rains a lot this time of year
And we both go together if one falls down
I talk out loud like you’re still around…

The Science of Inspiration
Thursday, July 3rd, 2008
“I think my imagination dictates the technologies I use. But at the same time, my imagination can be technologic. Sometimes I see a tool and I know immediately how to use it, but most of the time I use the tool for an idea I already have.” — Michel Gondry
In this link visionary film and music video director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine, Science of Sleep) shares his top 25 music videos of all time with Entertainment Weekly. It is a great opportunity to see what inspires the creative genius of a man like Mr. Gondry. If nothing else you get to see some insane videos from the likes of Peter Gabriel, Herbie Hancock, The Talking Heads, The Cure, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Check it out here.
